The DUC School of Business offers a comprehensive four-year programme leading to the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). The BBA programme covers four different areas of specialisation namely accounting, banking & finance, marketing and human resource management. 

The School of Business is a leading teaching and research focused business school offering programmes that stimulate an attitude of thoughtfulness, ambition and visionary-mindedness among students as far as business values and sound practices are concerned. By engaging with business, industry and external organizations, Dominion School of Business offers cutting-edge academic disciplines that expand students’ awareness of the role of business in society and the importance of acting in harmony with social norms and values.

The programmes are taught by combining theory with a practical approach, using case studies, topical issues, field work and cases of practical relevance to link students with the real world.

Programmes:
Bachelor of Business Administration (Accounting)
The rapid changes in social and economic activity have exposed accounting to criticism for failing to be more responsive and adaptable. The BBA Accounting specialization is a degree designed to offer students a unique and innovative industry experience to become responsive and adaptable to changing trends.
The degree is highly focused, with a specialist emphasis on accounting although students get firm grounding in economics, organizational behaviour, quantitative methods, and law. This degree will be beneficial for those pursuing a career within accountancy profession, including those working with the skills of financial analysis and management, or in tax, insurance, investments or banking. 

Rationale:
This programme aims to provide a broad education and training in modern business profile, suitable for a wide range of students in key areas of business management and other allied disciplines. This is to enable students gain tools for critical reflection and competence to use their acquired knowledge as facilitators of commercial enterprise and economic growth and development.

Goal & Objectives:
To produce skilled persons in the field of business administration for employment in both public and private sectors of the economy, and other organisations where such skills and disciplines are required.
Students are therefore exposed to courses that will equip them with the knowledge, understanding and skills for employing reflective and objective critical thinking in their fields of endeavour in order to contribute meaningfully in creating value for organisations, and become citizens capable of functioning in a highly complex, interdependent global society.


Students will gain practical knowledge, understanding and analytical skills in the core areas of accounting, economics, finance, research and forecasting. They will also acquire critical thinking in their reading, researching, writing, reporting and speaking, analysis and application of theories and practices of sound business traditions and principles as well as skills in numeracy. They will also acquire IT, communications and problem solving, and the importance of the life-long pursuit of truth, acceptance of individual responsibility which will prepare students for higher research, academic and professional pursuits.


Bachelor of Business Administration (Marketing)
The BBA in marketing programme at Dominion’s School of Business is specifically designed to assist students to acquire effective and efficient skills that will make them effective marketing professionals. It helps students to understand, conceptualise, analyse and resolve marketing problems.

The BBA in Marketing focuses on all the aspects of business administration, which includes accounting, human resources, marketing, information systems, finance and international business. By focusing on both business and consumer needs, this degree offers an effective approach to the theory and practice of marketing management and provides students with the opportunities to get real business experience before graduating.

The Dominion’s School of Business offers a 4-year degree programme leading to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Human Resources Management. This degree focuses on the tasks of managing organisation’s human capital as the key factor for competitive advantage in our fast-paced knowledge economy. The programme covers general management theory, marketing and business decision-making.

In this programme, students gain a solid foundation in functional and strategic HR Management professional practice, with an emphasis on leadership, particularly the strategic role HR practitioners’ play in leading and influencing organizational change. This enables our graduates to develop effective skills for leveraging the ‘people’ advantage to deliver value to employer, employees, customers and investors alike.

School of Science and Technology
The degree programme offered at DUC’s School of Science and Technology will equip students with advanced skills in information technology, and an understanding of how these can be applied to the challenges of management in a modern organisation.

The programme is designed to assist students to have a thorough grasp of concepts of computing science with a clear understanding of management principles and practice. It is intended to prepare students not only for the technical knowledge of computing, but also for a functional knowledge in leadership as well as management principles and functions as they relate to information and communication technology. The aim is to equip students to apply information systems to the problems encountered in management.

Degree from DUC’s School of Computing Science will therefore provide its graduates with a strong, broad-based education in computing as a scientific and technological discipline with thorough functional understanding of management principles and functions in an organisation. This programme therefore allows students to develop a functional background across a wide range of topics in both Computer Science and management principles.

The growing development in information and communication technologies such as internet banking, e-commerce and online shopping have had significant impact and transformed the way modern business is conducted. The effect is that in our modern business world, there is an increasing real demand for computer scientists who have a thorough and clear understanding of the underlying principless of managing business and people.


The BSc in Computer Science and Management prepares students for both the technical side of computing and for careers in management related to IT. The programme offers students a detailed understanding of the underlying principles of both computer science and business management, and exposed them to how these principles work in real business world. Students develop high levels of competence and demonstrate skill in computing such as programming and a greater appreciation of the context in which information technology is applied.

Goal & Objectives:
To enable students to become knowledgeable in the efficient use of information technology in the modern world of business and commerce. At the end of the student’s course of study, s/he will be able to use the knowledge and understanding gained to make sound arguments and analyse texts to answer questions which are of fundamental human concern.
Students will also gain an appreciation of the foundations of computation, an understanding of the structure of programming languages and the skills to put these concepts and technologies into practice.
