Master of Science (MSc.) in Statistics
The MSc Statistics at Dominion University is an introduction to univariate data analysis methods, descriptive statistics and data visualisation methods required in the face of uncertainties to make an informed decision. In recent times, a number of specialised tools and techniques has evolved to respond to the needs of industry, government, business and education. Our MSc. Statistics offers training in statistics as well as offers you the flexibility to select the program that suits your goals and interest. Students participating in this course will develop an understanding of descriptive and inferential statistics and the purposes for each of these groups of statistics.
Course Content
The MSc. Statistics is structured for those candidates who wish to grasp quality and in-depth knowledge of the theory and methods of statistics and of the application of statistical methods in various fields. It has been specifically designed to meet the needs of part-time learners in employment as well as fresh graduates who wish to master in statistics.
The programme aims to foster an interest in theoretical and applied statistics and equip you for work as a professional statistician. You will learn to analyse and critically interpret data, build statistical models in real situations and use programming tools and statistical software. Below is the programme structure for the MSc. Entry Requirement
Admission requirements for the Master of Science in Statistics at Dominion University College are;
Duration
The Master of Science in Statistics is a 12-months (1 year) degree programme. At the end of the duration of the programme, students are required to pass all registered taught courses and must obtain a minimum of 39 credits with a minimum cumulative weighted average (CGPA) of 2.5 at the end of the programme.
At the end of the programme, students are also required to give seminars(s) and pass an oral examination on their thesis. MSc dissertation of 15,000 words is also required to be submitted at the end of the 12-months period.
